Alan is the lead partner in our commercial litigation team and Managing Partner of the practice.
Alan’s extensive experience in resolving commercial disputes has seen him represent clients at all levels in the court system up to the Court of Appeal and in many tribunals.
Alan's particular interest is in intellectual property and competition law, but his 30+ years experience in dispute resolution extends to all areas of civil and commercial disputes, including claims in the Employment Authority and other statutory tribunals, disagreements between neighbours and relationship property claims in the District and Family Courts, and trust and estate litigation and land disputes in the High Court.
Alan is an accredited LEADR mediator, and an Associate Member of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) and supports alternative dispute resolution methods such as arbitration and mediation to improve outcomes. He is also available for appointment as an independent mediator for disputes involving a wide variety of domestic, civil and commercial issues.
Alan was admitted to the bar in 1975 and has been with the firm since 1977. In 2006 Alan graduated with First Class Honours as a Master of Commercial Law at Auckland University - after three years part-time study.
